Welcome to Sunrise Rotary Club of Minot!
Sunrise on Hunger

In 2010, two Sunrise Rotarians started a project called Sunrise on Hunger. Research shows that 27 percent of all food produced in the United States does not make it to the table, 37 million Americans are hungry, and that 73,000 people in North Dakota live below the poverty line. The goal of the project was to collect enough durum to produce enough pasta to feed every North Dakotan one pasta meal, which calculates to approximately 80,000 pounds of pasta.

Sunrise Rotary partnered with the U.S. Durum Growers Association, Dakota Growers Pasta Company and Philadelphia Macaroni Company (Minot Milling) in order to collect the bushels of durum and produce the pasta needed for the project. The pasta was donated to the Great Plains Food Bank during the 2011 KMOT Ag Expo. The Great Plains Food Bank distributed the pasta to various food banks across North Dakota.

Monetary donations are used to support the project and purchase durum to be milled and processed into finished pasta to be donated to the Great Plains Food Bank. Donations can be mailed to:
